July 29, 2007 - Have visas, still waiting

No Baby Yet
We anxiously await news of our referral, which should come sometime in the next 2-3 weeks. Once we accept the referral, our agency will request approval to travel to China. If all goes as expected (a big "if") we will meet our daughter in late September. If we don't travel in September, we will not leave until November 1, due to a national holiday and a major trade show in China. We are quite optimistic that this will be our best Thanksgiving ever.

The Preparations Continue...
Last week we received our visas to travel to China. Oh, and we bought a minivan. It is still at the dealership because they have to install the backup camera. The brochure showed a little red trike parked behind the van. SOLD! to the nervous parents-to-be. This weekend, we purchased some more items to baby-proof the house. With all of our stairs, gates are a major production. We haven't found exactly the right solution yet. Recommendations welcome.
Books, Books, and More Books
Donna visited her sister Lisa and family last week. Connor and Kira selected about 75 of their own books to start the baby's library. The collection included Donna's perennial favorites "Goodnight Moon" and "The Runaway Bunny" in pristine condition. Lisa recommended the 2-3 books that we should take with us to China. "My First Words" topped her list. As for the adults, Donna has been reading "The Happiest Toddler on the Block" and Jeff has graduated from "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Bringing Up Baby" (which Donna admits she found quite helpful as well) to Dr. Sears' baby book.
