Dressing Up

The other girls in Mia's preschool class are total girlie girl types-- six of eight dressed up as princesses on Halloween. On the assumption that Mia will enter this stage soon, I purchased several used princess costumes at a consignment sale. At $2 or $3 apiece, I thought they were a bargain, but so far Mia isn't showing a strong affinity for princesses. (I kind of like that about her, to tell you the truth.) Sarah had to provide a lot of encouragement to get Mia to put this dress on.

Off to School

After days of rain, the weather forecast said it would be 70 degrees and sunny today. Mia was ready for it. Can this be the same little girl we met in the Civil Affairs office in Nanchang?

Pillow Talk

Mia's favorite demand lately is ,"Under covers and read!" Usually this happens when I get home from work in the evening. Mia wants to head up to the master bedroom for some snuggling & reading time. Not a bad way to wind down from a busy day. This morning I overhead Mia telling Sarah, "Under covers and read!" as they headed for the playroom. Looks like she got her wish.

Now, You Try It!

Sarah is a great observer of child development milestones. One day she noticed Mia was holding her crayon in a very un-toddler-like way, as if it were a pen.
Or maybe as if she was showing Sarah how it's done.

The Queen of Hearts

Mia is learning how to sort things. Sarah cut out lots of hearts in pink and purple and had Mia sort them into separate bowls. Mia was quite intent on her task.

Love at First Bite

Mia's paternal grandparents sent her the cuddliest panda bear ever for Valentine's Day. A chocolate chip cookie and your very own panda bear. What could be better?

My Funny Valentine

Mia was supposed to wear something red or pink to preschool on Valentine's Day. Sarah found this coral (close enough) jumper. A hand-me-down, I have to admit it hadn't been worn yet. From the amount of leg that is showing, it looks like we got to it just in time.
